NUBAN
Ten-digit Nigerian bank account number, specific to each bank and therefore not unique on its own.
A NUBAN identifies an account within a Nigerian institution. It has exactly ten digits. The same number can exist at two different banks, so a payout always requires the pair of institution code plus account number.
The NIP rail queries the destination bank before sending to obtain the holder name attached to that pair. That name is compared with the seller’s verified identity. It is this resolution that turns a typo into an error message rather than an irrevocable transfer to a stranger.
