KYC (know your customer)
The identity and consistency checks required before entering a business relationship.
KYC covers three things: identifying the person, verifying the authenticity of the documents supplied, and understanding the nature of the expected relationship. The level required is graduated and generally depends on the cumulative amount over a rolling period, not on an isolated operation.
The leading cause of rejection is physical: a blurry, cropped ID photo, or one with glare across the machine-readable zone. The second is a mismatch between the verified name and the payout account holder — one missing first name is enough to block.
