SEPA Instant

European transfer scheme settling in under ten seconds, 24/7, weekends and public holidays included.

SEPA Instant, formally SCT Inst, is a scheme distinct from the classic SEPA transfer, not an accelerated version of it. It has its own infrastructure, its own risk rules and its own ceilings. Settlement is immediate and irrevocable: once executed there is no unilateral cancellation mechanism.

Under Regulation (EU) 2024/886, euro-area payment service providers have had to be able to receive instant transfers since January 2025 and to send them since October 2025, without charging more than for a classic transfer. A euro IBAN outside the euro area — Swiss or British, for instance — is not in scope and may only be reachable over classic SEPA.
