Why verification is necessary
Converting a digital asset into legal tender is the moment money leaves the chain and enters the banking system. That is exactly the operation anti-money-laundering rules watch, and it is why a serious service cannot skip it.
Verification pursues three distinct goals, worth keeping apart: establishing that you are the person you claim to be, checking that you are not subject to a restrictive measure, and making sure the converted funds have a plausible origin given what you told us.
These checks slow you down. We will not pretend otherwise, and we will not dress them up as a service rendered. What we can do is make them proportionate, predictable and legible: the thresholds are public, identical for everyone, and you know in advance what will be asked.
The tiers in one table
The required tier depends on the cumulative amount converted over a rolling 30-day window, not on a single transaction. Splitting a sum into several orders therefore changes nothing about the tier reached — and a series of orders just under a threshold is itself a signal our monitoring rules detect.
| Tier | Cumulative ceiling | What is required | Decision |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0 — Quote only | No deposit possible | No personal data: quoting is public and creates no account. | Immediate |
| 1 — Light verification | €1,000 | Email address confirmed by single-use link. Phone number confirmed by one-time code. Declared first name, last name, date of birth and country of residence. Screening of the declared name against sanctions and politically exposed person lists. | About 2 minutes |
| 2 — Standard verification | €15,000 | Valid government-issued ID: passport, national identity card or residence permit. Liveness check: a short video capture proving the person in front of the lens is the one on the document. Automated document authenticity check (security features, machine-readable zone, field consistency). The payout beneficiary name must match the verified name. | About 12 minutes |
| 3 — Enhanced verification | €100,000 | Proof of address less than three months old: utility bill, tax notice or bank statement. Source-of-funds declaration with supporting evidence: payslips, sale agreement, exchange statement, acquisition history. Deposit address analytics: exposure to risky services, mixers, sanctioned entities. A compliance analyst signs off the file before the first payout at this tier. | 1 business day |
| 4 — Deep review | Case by case | Compliance interview and detailed source-of-wealth questionnaire. For a legal entity: articles, registry extract, ownership chain and ultimate beneficial owners. Ceiling and conditions set case by case, reviewed periodically. | Human review, no automation |
Tier 0 — Quote only
Compute a net amount, compare rails, read the limits. No deposit can be received at this tier.
- No personal data: quoting is public and creates no account.
| Cumulative ceiling | Decision time | Handling |
|---|---|---|
| No deposit possible | Immediate | Automated, human review on request |
Tier 1 — Light verification
A first order to a beneficiary in your own name, up to the tier’s rolling 30-day cumulative ceiling.
- Email address confirmed by single-use link.
- Phone number confirmed by one-time code.
- Declared first name, last name, date of birth and country of residence.
- Screening of the declared name against sanctions and politically exposed person lists.
| Cumulative ceiling | Decision time | Handling |
|---|---|---|
| €1,000 | About 2 minutes | Automated, human review on request |
Tier 2 — Standard verification
All rails open in your country, up to the tier’s rolling 30-day cumulative ceiling.
- Valid government-issued ID: passport, national identity card or residence permit.
- Liveness check: a short video capture proving the person in front of the lens is the one on the document.
- Automated document authenticity check (security features, machine-readable zone, field consistency).
- The payout beneficiary name must match the verified name.
| Cumulative ceiling | Decision time | Handling |
|---|---|---|
| €15,000 | About 12 minutes | Automated, human review on request |
Tier 3 — Enhanced verification
High amounts and deposits coming from a documented third-party counterparty.
- Proof of address less than three months old: utility bill, tax notice or bank statement.
- Source-of-funds declaration with supporting evidence: payslips, sale agreement, exchange statement, acquisition history.
- Deposit address analytics: exposure to risky services, mixers, sanctioned entities.
- A compliance analyst signs off the file before the first payout at this tier.
| Cumulative ceiling | Decision time | Handling |
|---|---|---|
| €100,000 | 1 business day | Systematic human review |
Tier 4 — Deep review
A negotiated, contracted ceiling, with a named compliance point of contact.
- Compliance interview and detailed source-of-wealth questionnaire.
- For a legal entity: articles, registry extract, ownership chain and ultimate beneficial owners.
- Ceiling and conditions set case by case, reviewed periodically.
| Cumulative ceiling | Decision time | Handling |

What we accept as evidence
Identity documents
- Valid passport: accepted everywhere, and the document whose automated reading is most reliable.
- National identity card: accepted, both sides required.
- Residence permit: accepted where it carries a photograph and a machine-readable zone.
- Driving licence: accepted only in countries where it serves as an official identity document.
Proof of address
- Energy, water or landline bill less than three months old.
- Tax notice or tax certificate for the current or previous year.
- Bank statement less than three months old showing name and address. Amounts may be redacted.
- Valid home insurance certificate.
Legal entities
A company cannot be verified like an individual. The file includes a registry extract less than three months old, up-to-date articles of association, the ownership chain down to beneficial owners holding more than 25 percent, and identity verification of the legal representative and of every identified beneficial owner.
The destination bank account must be in the company’s name. A payout to a director’s personal account is refused, whatever the ownership structure.
Refusal, appeal and re-examination
A failed verification is not final. In most cases it comes down to capture quality and a second attempt is enough. You get three automated attempts; beyond that the file moves to human review rather than being blocked.
A refusal issued after human review is notified with the reason, except where the law forbids us from disclosing it. You can ask for a re-examination by providing new material: the re-examination goes to someone other than the person who decided.
What becomes of your documents
Document images and the liveness capture are encrypted at rest, segregated from account data, and accessible to compliance staff only. Every access to a verification file is logged with the agent’s identity and a timestamp.
Retention is five years from the end of the business relationship: it is imposed by anti-money-laundering rules and cannot be shortened at your request. At term, deletion is automatic. The detail is in the privacy policy.
Question about a verification file
Never send an identity document by email. Support will point you to the encrypted channel of the verification flow, which is the only place to upload a document.
